Women, especially those with infants, teenagers, or aging parents, often find themselves stretched thin, shouldering the emotional burden of being support providers while navigating demanding careers.

Despite these challenges, working women possess immense strength, resilience, and a unique ability to multitask and prioritize. They are often the emotional pillars of their families, providing unwavering support and care. This emotional intelligence, coupled with their strong work ethic, makes them invaluable assets to any organization.
A Path to a Better Future: Lessons from a Start-up in Consultancy
Through my experiments at Aumyaa, I’ve been exploring innovative solutions to support the growth and well-being of our fellow women professionals. Here are some of the initiatives we’ve implemented and the insights we’ve gained:
- Flexible Work Arrangements: By offering flexible work hours and remote work options, we’ve tried to partner with our colleagues to better balance their professional and personal lives, leading to increased job satisfaction and productivity.
- Compassionate Leave Policies: Our no explanation and compassionate leave policies have enabled our colleagues to support their families during challenging times, fostering a sense of balance and freedom.
- Mentorship and Coaching: Through personalized mentorship and coaching, often provided by senior women leader, we’ve worked to build our team confidence, develop new skills, and advance their careers. This specialized coaching has been particularly impactful in instilling confidence, enabling them to navigate multiple responsibilities with a sense of happiness, independence, and joy.
- Community Building: By fostering a strong sense of community among our pillars of strength, our team, through regular team-building activities and social events, we’ve attempted to create a supportive and inclusive environment.
A Call to Action for Large Corporations
Large corporations, with their significant resources and influence, have the potential to make a substantial impact on the lives of working women. By adopting similar strategies, they can create bigger impact, create more inclusive and supportive work environments that benefit both employees and the organization as a whole. They can easily build model which inspire and enable faster overall cultural change in corporate world.
Here are some specific recommendations for large corporations:
- Start with Support Functions: Implement flexible work arrangements and supportive leave policies for employees in support functions, such as HR, finance, and IT.
- Lead by Example: Encourage senior leaders to adopt flexible work arrangements and use their influence to promote a culture of work-life balance.
- Invest in Employee Well-being: Offer a variety of wellness programs, including mindfulness training, stress management workshops, and realizing true potential through inner reflection classes.
- Foster a Supportive Culture: Create a culture of open communication, empathy, trust and respect, where employees feel valued and empowered.
